Dr. Sonia Bribiescas, Principal

A native of Superior, Arizona, I graduated from Superior High School in 1988. I attended South Mountain Community College on an athletic scholarship where I earned my Associate of Arts Degree. I then attended Arizona State University earning a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Secondary Education in Business. In 2000, I earned a Masters of Arts Degree in Secondary Education/Technology at Northern Arizona University. In 2011, I earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University.

I began my teaching career at Superior High School where I taught business and coached basketball and softball. After teaching in Superior, I taught Math at the East Valley Institute of Technology for seven years. In 2004, I began teaching Business at Powell JH. I served as the Instructional Specialist and Team Leader for one year each at Powell. I returned to the classroom and taught Business at Stapley JH and returned to Team Leader at Kino JH. In 2012, I became the Principal at Pinnacle Online High School. I am starting my 21st year in education at Florence Unified School District as the Principal of the Leadership Academy of Excellence.

I started working adjunct at South Mountain Community College in the Summer of 2011. I am starting my 5th year in teaching BPC110.


Patricia Edgemon, Dean of Students

Ms. Edgemon’s experience as a teacher includes five years of adult education while serving in the United States Marine Corps, two years of high school Social Studies in Jacksonville, North Carolina, one year of high school Social Studies in Kearny, Arizona, five years of middle school Social Studies at the Florence K-8 school, two years of middle school Language Arts at the Florence K-8 school, and two years of online education at the Leadership Academy of Excellence.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Middle East Studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. She is currently completing her dissertation to obtain her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.  She has served on many school committees, sponsored student clubs and organizations, and she has coached several sports.  She has a passion for both learning and teaching.
Ms. Edgemon has two children.  Keri graduated high school in 2012 and has completed two semesters of college.  Tiffani is a sophomore student at Florence High School.  Ms. Edgemon’s children provide inspiration as she continues to learn as much from them as they learn from her. She is proud of her children and enjoys spending time with them both in and away from school.  Ms. Edgemon enjoys quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé, her own children, and her fiancé's children and grandchildren.  She loves to quote others, and one of her favorite quotes is, “We do not stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.” (Quote by: Anonymous).



Krystal Wright, Psychologist

Dear Lion Pride Families,

As your school psychologist, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I’m hopeful this information will be of benefit to you, your students and the school as a whole. My primary objective is for all of us to have a successful and rewarding school year.First, let me tell you about my background and experience. I am a native of Saginaw, MI (Go Blue!) and have lived in Arizona for over nine years with my family. I have one daughter (9yrs, 4th grade) and one son (8yrs, 3rd grade).  I’ve obtained three undergraduate degrees and is currently completed my internship for my Master’s in School Psychology from Ottawa University. I have worked in the Florence Unified School District for six years in various roles.  Second, I would like to share with you services that I can offer you throughout the year; however, my assistance to you is certainly not limited to what is mentioned

  • Individual and group counseling to help resolve student problems that interfere with school performance
  • Direct training to students in social skills, anger management, and other essential life skills
  • Identification of learning strengths and areas in need of intervention, and assessment of social-emotional development and school related adjustment
  • Behavior assessment leading to an intervention plan
  • Consultation with school staff and parents to provide effective interventions for learning and behavior problems
  • Training to school staff and parents on a variety of educational and mental health issues
  • Assistance to families in accessing community resources
  • Implementation of programs that improve our schools and promote safe, effective learning environments

Third, I would like to share some of my areas of expertise and/or interests. I enjoy working with at-risk students and students with a diverse background.Finally, it is important that you know the best way to reach me. I’m in my office Monday-Friday 8:00 am until 4:00pm. Krysta Neal, Administrative Assistant

A native of Florence, Az.  I Graduated from Florence High School in 2007. Through playing many sports I was able to  attended Scottsdale Community College on an athletic scholarship for softball. I completed 1 year. I moved back to Florence and began my career with FUSD in 2011. I have worked for  both PBHS, Skyline K-8. I am now going into my second year as the Administrative Assistant/Registrar for the Leadership Academy of Excellence and Summit. Being able to work for the school district enables me to be connected to so many great teachers and staff members that I once was taught by, it is an amazing experience. I am a mother of two, Mya and Elianna. Both who are current and future Gophers. We like to spend our spare time at sporting events and family outings.



Carmen Beam, Receptionist

I completed two years of general  education and child development  classes at Cerritos Community College in California.  I also completed two years of court reporting classes at Gateway Community College in Phoenix, AZ. I was hired by Garden Grove Unified School District and worked  7 years  as a paraprofessional for state preschool program at Heritage Elementary School in California. After moving from California, I was hired by Mesa Public Schools and worked seven years as office aide and attendance clerk for Adams Elementary School in Mesa, AZ.  After my time in Mesa, I applied with Florence Unified School District and worked one year as paraprofessional  at Circle Cross Ranch K-8 and two years as receptionist and attendance clerk for Leadership Academy of Excellence and Summit school.
